Happiness

It starts as a tingle in our fingers and toes and slowly spreads across your body, bringing a smile that stains upon our lips and makes us feel warm. Like an ocean wave, it washes away all your stress and worries and leaves you refreshed. Happiness is like soda. It's sweet, fizzy and doesn't last very long. So we have to enjoy happiness before it gets flat and soak it right into our bones.

The world is an unimaginably complex place made all the more so by the incredible things we humans do. But in this complex life, we fail to appreciate simple things. A simple walk alongside the sea, a quiet evening watching the sunset or a blissful morning in the garden makes our day. We can silently feel the warmth within ourselves when there's an unexpected sight of a loved one or a brilliant view of sunrise over the horizon. Moreover, isn't it that happiness is always around us? Rather than going in search of it, all we need to do is keep the doors of our mind open. A brief moment of happiness has the power to demolish mountains of pain. As Marc Anthony sings it," Voy a reir, Voy a bailar, Vivir mi vida... ". You can laugh, you can dance or sing all along if that's what makes you happy and live a blissful life.

Everything is intense when we are young. Love is deep, hate is strong, sadness is overwhelming, anxiety is crippling and yet, happiness is  overlooked. It is only as we grow old that happiness in small things becomes prominent. It is rather wise to remember that every emotion is fleeting and we better rejoice than to be lost in despair.

Be as happy as a baboon in a banana tree. As happy as a hippo in the mud and as happy as a kitty in a cream pie.
